Singapore

While capturing the Milky Way from Singapore can be very challenging due to the city's bright urban lights and high levels of light pollution, it is not impossible. With careful planning and the right equipment, it may be possible to capture glimpses of the Milky Way, especially during periods of low light pollution or when venturing to darker areas in Singapore or its surrounding regions.

Here are some tips for capturing the Milky Way from Singapore:

  1. Choose the right time: Plan your Milky Way photography session during a new moon or when the moon is below the horizon to minimize moonlight interference.

  2. Find dark locations: Look for dark spots within Singapore, such as the Rail Corridor, parks or nature reserves, that are far from city lights to reduce light pollution.

  3. Use appropriate gear: A camera with manual settings, a fast wide-angle lens, a sturdy tripod, and a remote shutter release are essential for capturing clear Milky Way photos.

  4. Shoot in RAW: Shooting in RAW format allows for greater flexibility in post-processing to bring out the details in the Milky Way.

  5. Capture multiple shots with the aim to stack them together during post processing to reduce noise and to enhance the Milky Way.

  6. Be patient and persistent: Capturing the Milky Way can require patience and multiple attempts, so be prepared to experiment, learn, and try again.
